Essilor Discontinuation of Low Volume Products

Posted on Feb 09, 2022

Dear Valued Customer,

Essilor of America, in an effort to better serve our customers, has decided to discontinue some extremely low volume products as of March 8, 2022. This and other initiatives will improve Essilor’s production capacity and service, aid in achieving maximum job-processing efficiency, and allow our customers to order from a newly streamlined product portfolio.

Please review the attached document for a list of affected products, and instructions on returns.

Please reach out to your Wholesale Manager with any questions. We thank you for your continued support of Essilor’s premium products.

Thank you,

Shamir SFSV Trivex Titan HC available

Posted on Feb 08, 2022

Shamir has come out with a new HC (Titan) for their SFSV Trivex Titan lenses. These new blanks are to be used for all non-Glacier AR jobs. Shamir has struggled with Trivex production levels, so they have added this line to keep up with demand. The price is the same as the old lenses (DLC coat).

The SFSV Trivex DLC HC blanks will still be available for a while to order from Global. These are to be used for Glacier AR jobs. When our inventory runs out, Glacier labs will need to buy these directly from Shamir. Shamir will send Global the DLC lenses we currently have on order, but Global will not be placing any future orders for these Trivex DLC blanks.

2022 Price Increases Implemented

Posted on Feb 01, 2022

Lens prices at Global Optics have been increased 3% to 6% for nearly all lenses stocked here. Unfortunately the price pressure of increased transportation costs by ship and trucks, increased material costs, and increased labor costs have necessitated vendors to increase their lens prices. You probably have seen the news of inflation in our country striking other industries as well. The optical industry is not immune to this. Lens prices at Global are set yearly beginning on February 1st. Therefore, prices will remain the same until February 2023 for your planning purposes.

Hoya/ Vision Ease/ Seiko bucked the trend and held their pricing at the same level without increasing any lens prices to Global Optics. Somo, BluTech, and IOT also held most of their lens prices at the same level. The rest of our suppliers increased prices across the board.

Nick is sending updated price files to your lab. Be sure to update ASAP as the majority of lenses have increased in price. If you have not received your price/OPC file for your LMS, please reach out to me. GoStock is also updated with the new prices. If you decide to adjust your pick lists and change suppliers, please contact me right away so I can adjust my inventory levels accordingly to avoid stock outs.

In all my years at Global, this is the most significant change in pricing I have witnessed. Hopefully it will be many years before we see this again.
